Say goodbye to store-bought teriyaki sauce and hello to homemade goodness! This DIY version is not only easy to whip up, but it’s also packed with nutrients that will take your chicken bowl to the next level. The combination of soy sauce, garlic, ginger, and other flavorful ingredients provides an array of minerals like magnesium, iron, and phosphorus, which are essential for overall health and wellbeing. Plus, the tangy, sweet-and-savory taste of homemade teriyaki sauce is hard to beat! So ditch the bottle and get ready to create a taste sensation with your very own homemade teriyaki sauce.
Avocado and sesame seeds are two incredibly egg-cellent (pun intended!) ingredients for boosting egg quality in preparation for IVF. Here’s why:
- Avocados are rich in healthy fats, which can help improve the quality and health of your eggs.
- Sesame seeds are packed with zinc, which is essential for healthy egg development.
Put these two ingredients together and you’ve got a power couple that’s perfect for supporting your fertility goals. So let’s get cooking!

Ingredients
- For the sauce:
- 1 Tablespoon of Honey
- 2 teaspoons of Bragg’s Liquid Aminos (or low sodium Soy Sauce)
- 1 teaspoon of Toasted Sesame Oil
- 1/2 teaspoon of Minced Garlic
- 1/2 teaspoon of Ground Ginger
- 1 Tablespoon of Sriratcha (increase or decrease this based on your heat preference)
- For the bowl:
- 1lb of Chicken (As Vegetarians we use the Gardein Ultimate Chik’n Strips for this recipe)
- 1 cup of rice
- 4 Scallions, diced
- 2 Tablespoons of Sesame Seeds
- 1 Avocado, sliced
- Edamame, cooked (optional)
Steps
1
Begin by starting the rice according to the package instructions. I like adding a pat of butter to the liquid for extra flavor. Fertility Tip – Take your rice up a notch by using bone broth as the liquid base!
2
Prepare your Teriyaki sauce by mixing the honey, toasted sesame oil, liquid aminos (or soy sauce), garlic, ginger, and Sriracha together in a small bowl. If preparing edamame to top your bowl with, get it started.
3
In a skillet, heat 1 tablespoon of oil and add your chicken strips. Brown the chicken on all sides, then lower the heat and pour the Teriyaki sauce over it.
4
After sauteing your chicken in the Teriyaki sauce until it’s well coated, add the diced scallions to sauté while you setup your bowls.
5
Divide your rice into 2 bowls. Top with your sauced & sautéed chicken, sliced avocado, edamame and a healthy sprinkling of sesame seeds. Enjoy!
